US sells its last stake in General Motors

(MENAFN) The US government has sold all its stakes in the automaker General Motors Co. at USD10 billion, according to Oman Observer. The sale leaves taxpayers out of a USD10 billion of the funds that the Treasury sank into the automaker in 2009. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said: "With the final sale of GM stock, this important chapter in our nation's history is now closed." Washington could help Detroit to recover during the most difficult days of the country's 2007-09-financial crisis.
