Pondo Water Control Project begins electricity generation


(MENAFN) The biggest water control project in Tibet Autonomous Region has begun generating electricity, Xinhua reported. The first generating unit in the Pondo Water Control Project will have an annual generation capacity of 150 million kilowatt hours. The remaining three units are set to begin generation in mid-2014, deputy head of the project administration bureau said. When productions commences fully, 599 million kilowatt hours will be produced annually. Construction in the large USD748 million project began in 2009 and is expected to complete in 2016.
