(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Poland's President Bronislaw Komorowski Tuesday called Qatar's businessmen to invest in his country, Europe's sixth largest economy.

The Polish President, who is now on a two-day visit to Qatar, today met with officials from Qatar Chamber along with representatives of the Polish business delegation accompanying him. Presenting investment opportunities, the Komorowski said Poland is experiencing an annual growth rate of 3% after emerging from the slowdown triggered by the global financial crisis. The Polish delegation is exploring business partnerships, particularly in sports infrastructure with Qatar hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, he said. He highlighted Poland's experience in organising sports events like the 2012 UEFA European Championship. Representatives of a Warsaw-based architectural firm that designed Poland's national stadium are showcasing here their design for a possible floating stadium in Qatar. Reiterating strong ties and agreements between Qatar and Poland, Komorowski said, Poland would start the process of importing natural gas from Qatar. This would balance its energy needs and open doors for more cooperation between the two countries which have become stronger after Qatar Airways starts flights to Warsaw in 2012. Qatar Chamber Treasurer and Board Member Abdul Latif Al Missned hailed the meeting as a great opportunity to continue cooperation in all areas and boost bilateral ties between the two countries. Diplomatic relations between Qatar and Poland began in 1989. The Polish Embassy was opened in Doha in 2007 while Qatar's Embassy started work in Warsaw the following year, Missned said and added that Qatar would become Poland's most important startegic gas supply partners from next year. Polish companies have good experience in many fields that could help them take advantage of investments by forging partnerships Qatari businessmen. Qatar Chamber plays a key role in facilitating these investments and it is keen to build ties with Polish Chamber of Commerce, Missned added. On the side-lines of the meeting today, two Memoranda of Understanding were signed between the Alliance of Polish companies and Al Baida Group and Al Madinah Energy Company.
