Saudi - Drunken man arrested with Captagon tablets

(MENAFN - Arab News) Police arrested a drunken man whose criminal acts included ramming his pickup van into a police patrol car and carrying narcotic substances. "During the chase to apprehend the driver, one of the police patrols smashed into a mud wall," said Jeddah Policeman Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq. "The man was first spotted dangerously driving near the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in the Waziriah district. When he refused to stop, security men chased the pickup van which was going in the opposite direction toward the Makkah-Jeddah highway," he said. The traffic police was assisted by the Road Security Police who blockaded the road in an effort to stop the drunken man. But he crossed a bridge leading to the King Abdul Aziz National Guard City and turned right into a hilly area. The driver was finally forced to stop after a hot chase of five kilometers. During the interrogation, the man told the police that he was a Saudi national. Police also discovered 130 Captagon tablets in his van. Al-Bouq added that the man was handed over to the anti-narcotics department to deal with the case.
