(MENAFN - Arab News) Riyadh Economic Forum (REF), which enjoys international attention because of its high-level of participation and discussion on important research papers on the growing economy of the Kingdom, was inaugurated on Monday by Riyadh Gov. Prince Khaled bin Bandar.
Organized by the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, the opening ceremony was attended by a large number of economists and key decision-makers.
"The sixth session of Riyadh Economic Forum will discuss social and economic developments in the Kingdom," said Prince Khaled.
"We hope this forum will play a significant role in the Kingdom's economic advancement."
He said the forum's main aim is to focus on economic goals as well as to discuss obstacles and challenges faced by the Kingdom.
Prince Khaled expressed happiness at the contribution of the public and private sector in the development of the Kingdom.
RCCI Chairman Abdulrahman Al-Zamil said the forum would come up with solutions for achieving the growth rate. "The participation of local companies will be helpful in meeting the challenges of the International and local market," he said.
Abdulaziz Al-Sugair, CEO of STC, said: "Our aim is to advance the growth of the Kingdom and to promote the welfare of Saudi citizens."
The forum is divided into five sessions with a focus on national and strategic dimensions.
On Tuesday, the sessions will focus on challenges facing the construction sector, the labor policy and localization of jobs in the private sector.
The Riyadh governor presented mementos to key sponsors of the event, including the Saudi Research and Marketing Group (SRMG), the diamond partner.
Omar A. Alshaikh, CEO of NASHR Co., received the memento from the governor.
