(MENAFN Press) The IASP-Asian Divisions Workshop taking place from 11-12 December 2013 at the Grand Hyatt Muscat will receive support from Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP). The Workshop is hosted by Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) in cooperation with the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP).

"QSTP is proud to support Knowledge Oasis Muscat at IASP's Asian Divisions Workshop," said Head of the IASP 2014 Organizing Committee and QSTP Managing Director Hamad Al-Kuwari. "Science and Technology parks have a key role to play in the region's innovation ecosystem, where there is a great opportunity and need to support technology innovators. We are pleased to be moving the conversation forward with strong partners like KOM and other areas of innovation in the GCC, in advance of next year's IASP World Conference in Doha."

Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), part of Qatar Foundation R&D, is Qatar's primary incubator for technology development, fostering the environment required for accelerating commercialization of research and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship. QSTP focuses on four themes; Energy, Environment, Health Sciences and Information & Communication Technologies. QSTP is located in Qatar Foundation's Education City and has access to the resources of its cluster of leading research universities.

Members within the QSTP Free Zone include SMEs, international corporations and research institutions, which have collectively committed to investing in new programs, creating intellectual property, enhancing technology management skills and developing innovative new products. Last year, Qatar won the bid to host IASP's 31st Annual World Conference, which will be the first hosted in the Arab world.

The IASP-Asian Divisions Workshop will bring STP experts, entrepreneurs, academia, public and private sector representatives together to deliberate and debate thoroughly the brand-new trends in STPs. The event will take place under the theme "Propelling the STP impulse"
