The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution have referred two Arab men to the Misdemeanors Court for allegedly possessing and dealing in growth hormone medicines without a doctor's prescription and a licence, and for jeopardising people's health. The investigation conducted by the prosecution showed that the two suspects posted catchy ads to offer growth hormones to youth interested in bodybuilding. The competent bodies, acting on the said information, arranged an arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, and laid down a trap. The two accused were apprehended and they admitted to the crime. Based on their confession, the duo was referred to the Misdemeanors Court.
An official source at the Abu Dhabi Attorney General's office highlighted the risks of using such products to develop muscles. He noted that the drug in question is medically prescribed to treat certain kinds of diseases and is hazardous if used without a medical reason.
This medicine, he said, may cause lots of diseases like diabetes, enlarged heart and kidney, and, in some advanced circumstances, may result in exhaustion, weakness, and even early death.
