UAE - PAT Mideast commences additive plant


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A local joint venture company has laid the foundation stone of an OPS manufacturing facility at Abu Dhabi's Khalifa Industrial Zone (Kizad). After signing the 30 year lease agreement with Kizad, Polysys Additive Technologies Middle East (PAT ME) has now laid the foundation for its One Pack Systems (OPS) manufacturing plant to be located in the industrial zone's dedicated mixed use cluster. The plant, which is expected to be finalised by 2014, will focus on the production of polymer stabilisers called Songnox One Pack Systems. The facility will have an initial capacity of 7,000 tonnes per year with expansion options to be implemented as per industry demand. The One Pack System solution is a multi-component, tailor made blend of additives in a pelletized form. When producing plastics, which are polymerized products, additives are critical components ensuring that the products achieve important characteristics such as ease of processing, UV resistance and protection against heat degradation. PAT ME is a joint venture between Polysys Industries Abu Dhabi and Songwon Additive Technologies AG, Switzerland, a leading global supplier of OPS with plants in Europe and the USA. Khaled Salmeen, CEO and managing director of Kizad, said that with Polysys Additive Technologies Middle East the industrial zone has won another strong business partner that will tremendously benefit from its excellent market access through Khalifa Port, state-of-the-art ICT Services and vertically integrated clusters which provide the most time and cost effective production lines. "Over 40 investors from around the world have started construction of their facilities, and we are delighted that Polysys will follow that path," he said.
