(MENAFNEditorial) The Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI) launched the International Forum for Family and Juvenile Prosecution 2013 today (Sunday, December 8, 2013) at the Jumeirah Creek Hotel. The event is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Judicial Council.
Organized in collaboration with Dubai Public Prosecution (DPP) and to be held over two days, the event is attended by regional and international community seeking to find out the latest amendments to the laws pertaining to families and minors. The forum features in-depth discussions by UAE authorities on the development and revision of the juvenile law and the need for the creation of a special force for minors.
The International Forum for Family and Juvenile Prosecution 2013 is an international interactive platform for exchanging theoretical and practical experiences and devising joint mechanisms to improve existing laws related to family and social issues in response to the rapid changes and challenges of the times. It gathers prosecutors dealing with family- and minor-related cases in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, USA, France and Turkey.
Judge Dr. Jamal Al Sumaiti, Director General of DJI explained that Dubai, backed by its principle of fair justice, has taken large strides in effectively addressing family issues. By establishing family and juvenile prosecution it has led the way in ensuring family cohesion and protection, which is crucial as family forms the core of society.
"The International Forum for Family and Juvenile Prosecution complements the remarkable success that has been achieved at the local level. The importance of the forum lies in its being the first of its kind in the UAE for family and juvenile prosecutors. It underlines the UAE's leading position as an international center of judicial and legal excellence. We look forward to getting effective recommendations that will bring about positive change in terms of protecting the family and advancing social development in line with the directives of the leadership," added Al Sumaiti.
Mohammad Ali Rustom Bu Abdullah, Head of Family and Juveniles Prosecution, pointed out that DPP's idea of holding the International Forum for Family and Minors Prosecutions goes back two years where it was put into issue with DJI - the ideal entity concerned with organizing meetings, seminars and legal forums in Dubai- which immediately agreed on the idea. "The Forum was first initiated around a year ago across the UAE to share local expertise. Following its great success, we started working with DJI to hold the Forum at an international level in accordance with the set plan aimed at inviting all countries of the world to showcase their expertise and experiences in the Family and Juveniles Prosecution business, as well as exchange information in order to leverage on these international expertise to promote such important field that caters to families as one of the key pillar of all societies and to juveniles which represent an important segment on which the future depends."

The International Forum for Family and Minors Prosecution will be executed in three basic stages. The first is limited to members of family and minor prosecution in the UAE, while the second focuses on promoting dialogue between the prosecution and local and federal bodies in the UAE. The third expansionary phase will include other GCC countries and the world in order to create direct channels for effective communication and constructive dialogue for enhancing the work of the Deputies with regards to family issues.
