(MENAFN - Arab Times) Officers from General Traffic Department launched a number of campaigns throughout the country last week under the directives of Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali, during which they issued 40,056 citations against various traffic violations, seized 1,455 vehicles and 24 motorbikes, arrested 206 individuals, and dealt with 1,728 traffic incidents. In Hawally Governorate, the department issued 9,040 citations and the traffic officers recorded 5,685 violations while in Ahmadi Governorate, 4,973 citations were registered.
In Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, 159 citations were issued while in Jahra, 2,150 citations were registered. The special traffic units issued 7,640 citations for various violations while the violations inspection team issued 1,370 citations. In addition, the traffic officers seized 1,455 vehicles and 24 motorbikes, while 206 individuals were referred to the traffic custody. The General Traffic Department dealt with 1,728 traffic incidents last week.
As part of efforts of the Hawalli Security Directorate to maintain security and restore discipline on roads, officers have been standing up firmly against traffic violators based on the directives of the Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary of Traffic Affairs Major General Abdul-Fattah Al-Ali, reports Al-Anba daily. Sources said Hawalli police launched a three-hour campaign in Khairan area and impounded 33 buggies and their riders, noting the juvenile buggy riders were released upon written pledges.
