Ahli United Bank Kuwait formerly The Bank of Kuwait and Middle East was not satisfied of just being the first block in the structure of Kuwait's banking sector and the cornerstone of the country's economic heritage, but also continued to perform a vital role for more than sixty years in Kuwait's economic and social development by financing infrastructure, industrial and commercial projects, hence transforming into a shining star in the country's banking hemisphere.

The beginning of 1941 saw the inauguration of the first banking and financial institution in Kuwait, when late Amir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sanctioned an agreement that opened the branch of a British bank in the country - the Iranian Imperial Bank (at that time). However, with the progression of time in 1971 the Bank was granted its national birth certificate to become 100% Kuwaiti bank.

The year 2003 saw the sale of Bank's shares by public subscription and the beginning of a regeneration process that has affected all areas of business. The new alliance with Ahli United Bank Bahrain proved to be a catalyst for change, and this partnership is yielding tangible results. After more than 60 years of service to the Kuwaiti community, plans were laid during 2004 for the complete relaunch of the brand and product offering, with a greater focus on consumers and their financial needs at every stage of life. Subsequently in line with the strategic vision the Bank was converted to an Islamic Bank under the present corporate identity of Ahli United Bank Kuwait in April 2010.
