(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) A man, who swore at a female colleague after she reported an alleged robbery in the workplace committed by him, has been sentenced to prison.
The RAK Misdemeanours Court ordered the Asian resident, who remains at large, to serve one month in jail.
The Court, presided over by Chief Judge Suhail Al Farooq, found the Asian suspect guilty of using abusive language against his fellow worker, an Arab, after she reported his robbery to their seniors.
Court records show that the case unfolded last month when the woman lodged a complaint against the accused implicating him in some embezzlement and fraud in the accounts of the company they both work for.
The case was referred by the RAK Public Prosecution before which the plaintiff said the defendant, who failed to appear for interrogation, not only robbed their company, but also swore at her. The case was then heard by the RAK Misdemeanours Court where the suspect failed to appear and escaped to an unknown hideout, and then gave the earlier ruling.
Meanwhile, the RAK Criminal Court sentenced an Asian young man to life in prison for attempted rape. The Court, presided over by Chief Judge Yusuf Rajab, and the membership of Judge Hamad Abdul Karim, and Arif Humaidan, ordered the suspect to be deported after serving the jail term in full.
As per court records, the plaintiff, an Arab woman, told the RAK Police that the defendant tried to sexually abuse her while she was walking close to the beach off RAK city.
The woman resisted the suspect, and managed to escape after biting his hand hard. She then approached the RAK Police where she lodged a complaint against the man who was searched for, arrested, referred to the Public Prosecution, and finally convicted by the Misdemeanours Court.
