Saudi- Ukrainian attempts suicide

(MENAFN- Arab News) A Ukrainian naval engineer attempted suicide on board a ship in the sea off the Yanbu port, a source said. The Border Guards coordination center for search and rescue operations in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba received an SOS from a Liberian-registered ship. The ship carrying chemicals was en route from the United States to the Fujaira port in the UAE," said Col. Naji Al-Harbi, spokesman of the Border Guards in the Makkah Province. The message said that Segie Kosnashov was in critical condition after having cut his neck causing a lot of blood loss. An identical message was also received at the search and rescue center of the King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah from 80 nautical miles off the Yanbu port. Immediate steps were taken to administer first aid and transfer the wounded engineer to the Yanbu hospital in a Border Guards boat.
