Fire in mall in Abu Dhabi, no casualties reported


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Teams from the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence extinguished a huge fire that broke out on Tuesday evening in a textile showroom in a prominent mall in Abu Dhabi. Firefighters managed to contain the fire and prevented it from spreading to adjacent stores. No injuries have been reported. Captain Abdullah Al Tamimi, Head of Public Relations and Customer Service Section at the Directorate General of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi indicated that fire fighters from Al Falah and Al Madina civil defense stations were immediately dispatched to the scene. "Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire," he added. Al Tamimi urged store owners to follow safety measures set by the authorities when storing clothes and plastic material. He stressed the need to install smoke detectors and portable fire extinguishers. He also pointed out to the importance of providing good ventilation for warehouses, particularly those containing flammable materials.
