Oman Gas pledges support to responsible driving

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman Gas Company (OGC) was the platinum sponsor for the Annual Oman Traffic Safety Expo, which was held at Oman International Exhibition Centre under the auspices of H E Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry. This support reinforced the Company's commitment to help reducing road accidents and promoting the traffic safety awareness.

Throughout the exhibition, OGC's staff actively engaged with the public and invited them to pledge their intention to commit to safer driving habits by not using their mobile phones while driving, to use safety seats for their children, always wear a seat belt, have their car regularly checked and serviced, keep to the speed limit etc. As part of the event's proceedings, children were also encouraged to participate in a specially organised colouring activity and games with a ‘Safety Drive theme. The company also gave away gifts such as car baby seats, tyre pressure gauges, and first-aid kits to those visiting OGC booth at the expo.

Commenting on its presence at the Traffic Safety Expo, a spokesperson from OGC said, ''The level of casualties on our roads every year is significant - and it is our intention to do all that we can to reverse this trend. We strongly believe that in order for this to happen an attitude that is supportive of safety must be adopted by all citizens of the country.'' He said, ''At OGC, safety is a prime area of focus, and the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies at OGC ensure that all employees receive adequate training in all matters related to traffic safety periodically. Our association with the Royal Oman Police's initiative to encourage safer driving in the Sultanate is thus natural.

We are proud to be a major contributor to this annual event and thanks to the organisers and the Royal Oman Police for being able to effectively communicate the importance of safe and responsible driving through this event.'' OGC is the principal gas transportation company in Oman delivering natural gas to the vibrant sectors
