Iran's Maroun to build new solar plants

(MENAFN) Iran-based Maroun Oil and Gas Production Company plans to boost electricity production by building new solar plants to cover the country's demand on electricity, and operate gas injection wells, according to Iran Daily. Dariush Shokr-Khodaei, project manager, said the project aims to help the company's production to remain stable and monitor gas injection wells. Dariush said: "Since the supply of electricity to oil and gas wells is not economically and technologically viable due to their uneven dispersion and long distance from electricity posts, the company decided to use solar energy to supply energy to receivers and radio transmitters."
