(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) David Cameron has promised to create a "partnership for growth and reform" as he visits China on a trade mission with more than 100 UK business leaders.
Cameron also pledged to put his "full political weight" behind a proposed EU-China trade agreement
After talks with Cameron, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said the pair had agreed to "push for breakthroughs" on nuclear power and high-speed rail
The leaders read out statements to reporters after their talks in Beijing, but did not take questions
Li said the talks had been "highly productive", adding that the UK and China had become "indispensible partners for each other's development"
"On infrastructure, the two sides have agreed to push for breakthroughs and progress in co-operation on our enterprises in nuclear power and high-speed railway," he continued, adding "The Chinese side is willing to not only participate but also purchase equities and stocks in UK nuclear power projects." Li and Cameron announced that they had also agreed a 200 million pounds research fund aiming to foster scientific collaborations
Cameron welcomed Chinese companies and financial institutes, pledged to enhance cooperation with China in trade, investment and science, as well as coordination on international and regional issues
He also vowed to promote EU-China relations, including talks for a EU-China free trade treaty. Cameron arrived in Beijing on Monday for a three-day visit to China
