Uzbekistan, China invest USD400 m in railways


(MENAFN) Uzbekistan has signed a USD400 million deal with China for investing in two tunnels on a railway that links between eastern Uzbekistan and the rest of the country, according to Oman Observer. China plans to fund its most difficult tunnels at USD350 million, while Uzbekistan will construct a 120-kilometer link. Tashkent plans to construct a new link independent of Tajikistan over the following two years. The expected cost of the project is USD1.9 billion.
