McDonald's Oman reaches out to victims of Typhoon Haiyan

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Saddened by the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) that caused over 5,000 deaths and extensive property damage in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines, McDonald's Oman (Al Daud Restaurants LLC) donated US$10,000 to Haiyan victims through Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in the Philippines.

RMHC is charitable organisation found in 58 countries and regions across the globe. RMHC has programmes tailored to meet the urgent needs of each community, improving the lives of children and their families, by standing alongside of them during difficult times and giving them a place that feels like home. Ali K Daud, Development Licensee and president of McDonald's Oman, together with McDonald's management and staff expressed his sympathy towards the Filipino people over such a tragedy. ''We all feel devastated to have witnessed the aftermath of such a horrible typhoon.

No amount of donation can compensate the loss of loved ones; thus we extend our deepest sympathy to the Filipino people. We hope that our modest contribution will go a long way in helping alleviate the present situation of the people in Tacloban and the neighbouring areas. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.'' Apart from cash donation, McDonald's Oman also provides in-kind donations to the Filipino community in their fund-raising efforts for the victims. Jose L Garcia III, at the Philippine Embassy, said, ''On behalf of the Philippine Embassy in Oman, we express our thanks to Mc- Donald's Oman for its donation for the victims of the Haiyan.''<
