University of Dubai celebrates Expo 2020 win with students


(MENAFNEditorial) Following the announcement of UAE's win to stage the World Expo, students and faculty members of University of Dubai rejoiced in celebrations. Held at the University campus, the evening of celebrations witnessed attendance of many senior faculty members, including Dr. Eesa Bastaki, the University's President, who congratulated the UAE government, the students and the wider nation to winning the right to host what will be the first international fair in the Middle East. The event was also attended by Nadia Alakrabi, student and President of the Emirati Club, and University of Dubai Alumnus, Ahmad Al Jazeeri. Dr. Bastaki said: "The International Exhibitions Bureau could not have chosen a better city than Dubai to host the EXPO 2020. We have 7 years to prepare for the world's stage and demonstrate just how Dubai is connecting minds and creating the future. Next week, the UAE celebrates 42 years of being united as a nation and EXPO 2020 will give us the chance to show not just how we have formed a strong union, but how we have progressed through mobility, opportunity and sustainability." The University of Dubai also held its UAE National Day celebrations where staff and students from many different nationalities came together to celebrate 42 years of the United Arab Emirates, with a host of traditional Emirati experiences, UAE National dances and traditional songs.
