Japan's Nippon Steel, ArcelorMittal to sign USD2 b deal


(MENAFN) Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal and ArcelorMittal, the world's two biggest steelmakers, plan to make a USD2 billion agreement to purchase a US steel plant from the German ThyssenKrupp, according to Oman Observer. Nikkei economic daily reported that Nippon Steel and ArcelorMittal have negotiated with ThyssenKrupp in a USD1.97 billion deal. The first two parties plan to double their combined output capacity in the United States after making a joint bid for the Alabama plant.
