The US Trade Representative Office said on Wednesday that Michael Froman will arrive in Japan on Sunday
He will be meeting with Economic Revitalization Minister Akira Amari and other ministers, according to Japan's (NHK WORLD) website
They are expected to discuss the removal of tariffs, protection of intellectual property, and other key issues
Negotiations in these areas have faced difficulties
After visiting Japan, Froman is scheduled to travel to Vietnam and Malaysia, which are also participating in the TPP talks
He will try to narrow differences over the issues of state-run companies and protection of medical patents
Froman's Asia tour has been scheduled ahead of the TPP ministerial talks in Singapore
The meeting will start on December 7th, and will determine whether a deal can be reached by the end of the year
US Vice President Joe Biden will also visit Japan to meet with Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and discuss bilateral cooperation in the TPP talks.
