Students of The Sultan's School celebrate Oman's National Day

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Sultan's School students united to celebrate the 43rd Oman National Day.

From Oman's national anthem to kindergarten's parade in Omani dress, passionate speeches and poetry capturing the patriotism of The Sultan's School, the celebrations culminated in over 1,000 students singing in Arabic and English, demonstrating the school's bilingual heritage.

Most exciting was the world premiere of the song, Oman is Home to Me, composed by Lisa Morgan, head of music at The Sultan's School.

''I felt inspired to express in an English song all aspects of life in Oman that make it ‘the Jewel of the Khaleej', and create a work for Oman that is culturally unique'' she said.

The Combined forces of the Primary and Secondary schools, the Arabic and Rock bands, supported by oud virtuoso, Samieh Mahjoubi performed Lisa's work with passion and great enthusiasm.

Graeme Garrett, principal said, ''the sight of our students from KG to Year 13 coming together with staff and parents, to celebrate and sing under a sea of Omani flags was a spectacle that brought heartfelt pride of the uniqueness of the community of The Sultan's School. This year's celebration had an extra special feel as HH Madame Virginia Fahr al Said was able to attend and participate.'
