Japan, US to Cooperate Over China's New Air Defense Zone

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Japan and the United States will cooperate in responding to China's establishment of a controversial new air defense identification zone in the East China Sea, Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera said Wednesday. Onodera will discuss the issue by phone with U.S Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel Wednesday, a senior Japanese Defense Ministry official said "The United States shares our stance that China's unilateral move to set up (the zone) is unacceptable," Onodera told reporters earlier in the day at the ministry's headquarters in Tokyo.
