Oman decides on no visas to salespersons and camel keepers for 6 months

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) For six months from December 1, the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) will stop issuing fresh visas to non-Omani sales and marketing professionals as well as those involved in camel keeping. New recruitments cannot take place during this period.

In Ministerial Decision No 608/2013 issued on November 18, H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, citing Royal Decree 35/2003 on the Labour Law, issued a statement ceasing recruitment of non-Omani workforce in the private sector for six months in three professions - salesperson, sales promoters and purchasing agents. The ministerial order stated that the decision does not apply to establishments rated as ‘excellent' and ‘international'.

In another decision (No 610/2013) issued by H E  Bakri on November 20, an order was issued to stop recruitment of non-Omani camel keepers in the private sector for six months. However, in both the cases, MoM allows issuance of replacement visas. Both the decisions will come into effect from December 1.

In an October 9 decision, MoM had banned issuance of visas for six months, effective November 1, for private sector construction workers and cleaners. <
