Oman hopes Iran deal will lead to peace, stability

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman expressed the hope on Monday that the nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers would lead to 'peace and stability' in the region.

''A responsible source at the Foreign Ministry stated that the Sultanate of Oman followed up with interest the negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and (5+1) group on the Iranian nuclear file as it wishes that the interim agreement reached by the two sides in Geneva on November 24, 2013 would contribute in achieving peace and stability in the region,'' Oman News Agency (ONA), reported.

Iran had agreed to a landmark deal on Sunday with the US, UK, Germany, France, China and Russia on curbing its nuclear programme in exchange for a partial lifting of economic sanctions imposed on the Islamic republic.

The six-month curb on Iran's nuclear activities, as specified in the deal, is expected to give diplomats time to negotiate a more sweeping agreement.
