(MENAFN) The European Commission President stated that both the European Union (EU) and Hong Kong benefited from trade and investment relationship, Xinhua reported.
The president stated that EU companies have an important role in the economy in Hong Kong as nearly 2,000 European companies operate from Hong Kong with nearly 453 of them set up regional headquarters.
"We now have dialogues in almost all areas relevant to each other's development, political, economic and people-to-people," he said.
The commission president said that half of the world's population, more than half of the world's gross domestic product and 55 percent of the world trade are in Europe and Asia.
"These are impressive figures, which show the centrality of Europe-Asia relations in today's world. This relation is indeed key for the world's prosperity and stability," he added.
