ICAI awards outstanding Indian professionals in UAE


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Abu Dhabi Chapter (the chapter), organised its silver jubilee annual international seminar on November 14 and 15. Rajiv Shah, vice-chairman; K. Raghu, vice-president; and Padmanabha Acharya, chairman, ICAI - Abu Dhabi Chapter, presenting awards to Nilesh Ved, T.K. Raman, Mrs Maya Mohan Jashanmal and Mohan Jashanmal. The seminar was attended by over 650 people and included speakers like Adel Abdullah Ali, group CEO, Air Arabia and Dr Karim El Solh, co-founder and CEO, Gulf Capital. Sultan bin Nasser Al Suwaidi, governor of the UAE Central Bank, was the chief guest for the seminar. The seminar was followed by a gala dinner and live concert by Shaan on the evening of November 15, which was attended by over 3,500 people. During 2011, the chapter instituted the "Business Super Achiever" awards to recognise outstanding work performed by Indians in business and professional fields in the UAE. The award of 2013 was presented to Mohan Jashanmal, chairman of the Indian Business Professional Group, regional manager of Jashanmal National Company, Abu Dhabi UAE and Shareholder of Jashanmal Group of Companies, and Nilesh Ved, chairman and founder of the retail conglomerate Apparel Group. "Excellence in Finance" award was instituted during 2012 to recognise outstanding work in the field of Finance. T.K. Raman, group chief financial officer, Finance House was the receiver of this award for 2013. The awardees were pleased to be recognised by one of the most vibrant professional bodies and expressed their gratitude to the chapter.
