Oman Flour Mills sponsors daily school meals

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman Flour Mills (OFM) has donated RO12,000 to charity body Dar al Atta'a to provide free daily school meals to 335 underprivileged students for the academic year 2013-2014.

This marks the fourth year of OFM's association with Dar al Atta'a in support of the latter's free school meals project. A strong highlight of Oman Flour Mills' CSR project, the school meals sponsorship program started in 2010 partnering with Dar al Atta'a with an annual allocation of RO9,000 towards covering the meal costs of 250 disadvantaged children attending government schools in and around Muttrah. For the current academic year, however, Oman Flour Mills donated an extra RO 3000, taking the total funding to RO12,000, covering 335 children. The company's aid for 2011-2012 had also been RO12,000.

Appreciating Oman Flour Mills's charity project, Nada al Jamali, board member of Dar al Atta'a, said, ''We have a had a smooth and fruitful association with Oman Flour Mills over the years. ''This year, like in the past, responding to our request for additional help to cover extra costs, Oman Flour Mills has increased the financial aid to RO12,000.'' Commenting on the company's school meals sponsorship, Ahmed al Murazza, chief officer (HR & Corporate Affairs) at Oman Flour Mills said, ''Our aim is to support children from less privileged families.

Free daily meals are a great relief for such children. In fact it acts as an incentive for them to attend schools.'' ''As Oman Flour Mills operates in Muttrah, the company is committed to developing and supporting the community there through outreach programs; and supporting the education of needy children from the Muttrah area is part of that commitment,'' Murazza sai
