Nepali Embassy in Oman opens

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Much to the happiness of the Nepali community in Oman, the Embassy of Nepal at Shatti al Qurum was inaugurated on Wednesday. More than 200 people, including members of the Nepali community, diplomats and Omani officials, attended the two-hour event.

Jhabindra Aryal, who has been appointed the first chargé d'affaires of the embassy, said, ''Nepal and Oman share a very cordial relationship for decades, and we are extremely happy to have our presence here in the sultanate. We will promote tourism, investment, construction and food production in the country.

''The Nepali community has contributed much to Oman's development and many Nepalese citizens have been staying in Oman for years. The officials here are very cooperative and helpful.''

Nepal had announced in February this year that an embassy will be opened in the sultanate.

''With the opening of this embassy, more than 40,000 Nepalese in Oman will now have a moral guardian,'' said D B Chettri, president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA)
