Indian missing in KSA for 14 years
(MENAFN- Arab News) The Federation of Kerala Associations in Saudi Arabia (FOKASA) urged the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs on Monday to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Hamza Beleri, an Indian worker (passport no. L565236) who has been missing for 14 years. His sponsor in Riyadh is also not reachable.
FOKASA said, "The Saudi sponsor of the worker is probably also missing along with Beleri."
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh wrote a letter to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately after the incident, but they did not follow up the matter," according to FOKASA.
"Except for filing the information at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the time of the disappearance, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh did not follow up with the case," the organization alleged.
However, according to the organization, the Indian Prime Minister's Office (PMO) did officially inform Kutty Ahmed Kutty, the local Member of Legislative Assembly in Kerala, acknowledging the receipt of a letter from Beleri's wife in India. She wrote that her husband had been arrested by Saudi authorities but there was no news of him.
Now, FOKASA has requested the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to cooperate with the Saudi ministries to find Beleri.
His wife gave several petitions to the ministries of External Affairs, Overseas Indian Affairs, the PMO and the Indian Embassy, but there has been no appropriate follow up by these entities.
Beleri was working as a watchman of a farmhouse in Riyadh, owned by his sponsor Bitha Abdulaziz Al Ankari. He was found missing along with his sponsor from Aug. 2, 1999 onward.
The only breadwinner of his family, Beleri's wife, son and mother are desperately waiting for a happy outcome.
