Abu Dhabi University students gear up for 42th National Day Celebrations

(MENAFNEditorial) Plans to celebrate the United Arab Emirates' 42nd National Day are well underway at Abu Dhabi University, with students on both the University's Abu Dhabi and Al Ain campuses getting ready to inaugurate a week-long of cultural, traditional and heritage infused activities that highlight the country's achievements, and promote the spirit of unity and progress, under the theme "Spirit of the Union". The celebrations will kick-off next Sunday (24 of November) and will continue throughout the week till the 1st of December, with activities that include folkloric dances, poetry session, photography and cultural art exhibitions, and National Day themed competitions. Emphasizing the importance of this year's celebrations, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University explained that the festivities this year are quite unique as they coincide with ADU's celebrations of its 10 year anniversary since its inception in 2003. "Not only do our students get to celebrate the nation's 42nd National Day, but they also get to enjoy the diversity of the activities that the University has organized both on and off-campus to commemorate this milestone. Although, most of the focus will be on the festivities that are spread across the country, but to ADU students, the UAE's National Day is also an opportunity that allows them to affirm their national identity, their loyalty to our wise leadership and to admire the rapid growth, prosperity and development that the country has achieved on many levels in such a short time", said Dr. Ibrahim. Dr. Ibrahim pointed out that some of the week's celebrations include folkloric musical performances by Al Mawakeb School and Dar Al Uloom School, a cultural theatrical sketch by ADU's Emirati Student club, as well as a poetry session held by some of the UAE's most renowned poets.
