Japan, Laos Hold Summit to Discuss Security Cooperation


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Laotian Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong met on Sunday in Vientiane to discuss security cooperation and Tokyo's support for the Southeast Asian country's health and medical care systems. Japanese officials said that during the summit talks, Abe is expected to explain Japan's security policy of promoting what he calls "proactive pacifism" to contribute to global peace and stability, according to Japan's (Kyodo) New Agency The Japanese leader is also likely to express Tokyo's readiness to extend yen loans to help Laos expand an airport terminal, they said.
