Lebanon Foils Kuwait's Bid Smuggle In17,000 Drug Pills


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Customs officers at Kuwait International Airport arrested a Syrian for the possession of fake 1,600 pieces of KD10 denomination revenue stamps valued at KD16,000. The officers discovered the fake stamps inside the luggage of the suspect when he arrived in the country via Turkey. He claimed the stamps belonged to a compatriot he did not know and only requested him to take the items. He said the arrangement was that the owner will call him upon arrival in the country. The suspect and the items were referred to the concerned authority for the necessary legal action. Meanwhile, the Lebanese Directorate General for Internal Security Forces said the secret inspection agents at Rafiq Hariri International Airport foiled the attempt by a 24-year old Kuwaiti man to smuggle about 23 kilograms (17,000 pills) Captagon pills into Lebanon, reports Al- Seyassah daily. During interrogation, the suspect admitted he was supposed to smuggle the pills into an Arab country through Beirut Airport. The Lebanese authority referred him to the Anti-Narcotics Department for legal action.
