China Remains Top Gold Consumer in 2013 Q3
(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) World Gold Council said Friday that China was the World's top gold consumer in the third quarter of 2013, using approximately 210 tons of gold during that period.
The figure was an 18% increase in demand for gold year-on-year. The figure meant that China continued to increase the gap with India, the world's second largest gold consumer. Demand for gold in India has gone down 32% in the third quarter year-on-year. The figure stood roughly at 148.2 tons.
Consumption had decreased 32% compared to the previous quarter. Global demand for gold during the third quarter of 2013 was 969 tons. The figure was a decrease of 21% year-on-year. China and India's demand combined represented more than a third of that amount.
