Account deficit in Turkey broadens

(MENAFN) The Turkish central bank said that the current account deficit in the country widened in September due to an increase in imports, Times of Oman reported. The current account deficit stood at USD3.3 billion. Imports in the country during September rose to USD20 billion from USD19.3 billion in the same month last year, while exports remained at USD14 billion. The broadening in the trade gap was due to the country cutting gold exports to Iran to abide with sanctions, while its gold imports increased leading the trade gap to widen.
