Industrial output in India grows 2 percent


(MENAFN) The industrial output in India grew weak in September due to weak demand during the religious festival season, Times of Oman. The industrial output in the month grew by two percent from the same month last year against expectations of a 3.5 percent growth. The manufacturing output, which makes up three-quarters of the Index of Industrial Production, increased by 0.6 per cent in the month from September last year. The Confederation of Indian Industry said: "The performance of consumer goods, particularly that of consumer durables, continues to be a cause for concern as it indicates very poor demand."
