Raysut posts 13 percent growth in Q3 net profit


(MENAFN) Raysut Cement Company (RCC), the largest cement producer in Oman, posted a 12.6 percent growth in its third quarter profit before tax at USD55.7 million this year, according to Times of Oman. The group's revenue was slightly lower at USD181.7 million against USD182.1 million. The company said that the competition from cement suppliers from the UAE is likely to continue, as the developments in the UAE are still to absorb the local capacity, leading to a pressure on demand and price in Omani market during the year. The group as a whole has produced 2,473,426 tons of clinker and 2,786,836 tons of cement during the period ending September, 2013 against 2,630,571 tons of clinker and 2,825,976 tons of cement in the same period in the previous year. The production of clinker and cement fell 6 percent and 1.4 percent respectively. During the period, 1,602,765 tons of clinker were produced in Salalah plant of the RCC, against 1,652,444 tons produced in the same period in the previous year, a decrease of 3 percent.
