Oman Drydock allocates funds for floating project

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman Drydock Co has allocated funds for the floating dock project in Duqm. The implementation of the project will be initiated after getting the required official permits.

In a statement to ONA, deputy chief executive officer Sheikh Khalil al Salmi said that since the start of commercial operations at the dry dock, 170 vessels have been repaired, in addition to 15 more in the waiting list.

He added that the marketing team maintains contacts with authorised agents in the US, Cyprus, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, the UK, Turkey, Brazil and other countries to attract more vessels to the dock. The marketing department also maintains contacts with vessel owners and companies that own trans-continental fleets.

He pointed out that the company seeks to increase its market share in the coming years through intensifying participation at exhibitions and creating relations with customers. 'The company, which has made it to the international ship-repair map, spares no efforts in attracting more business,'' he added.

''The company has repaired many oil and gas, shipping and container vessels from different countries. It has also converted some vessels.

''This provides its staff with the required skill and experience to carry out technical, mechanical, HSE and logistic-support works. The company has also plans to receive oil exploration vessels,'' he added.

Sheikh Khalil said that the dry dock in Duqm is one of the most advanced in the region, with state-of-the art technologies. <
