UAE- Suspicious man stands trial over killing 'cheating wife'
(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A store-keeper allegedly strangled his wife to death after suspecting she was cheating on him and then turned himself to the police station, a court heard.
The incident happened on August 7 when the couple had a heated argument after she returned home from work.
The 33-year-old Indian husband was drinking alcohol and he confronted the wife about her having an affair.
They got into an argument and he strangled her. With one hand he squeezed her neck and with the other he gagged her. The accused faced a murder charge linked with a charge of consuming alcohol in the Court of First Instance. A police corporal said he was on duty at the Bur Dubai police station when the defendant came at around 3am.
"He looked agitated and smelt of alcohol. He told us that he had a brawl with his wife over his suspicion that she was having an affair. He confessed that he strangled her after she verbally abused him," the corporal told the prosecution.
The police moved to the defendant's place in Al Jafiliyah and found the victim's body lying on a bed. Her suitcase was found packed near the closet.
The accused told the police officers that he and his wife had an argument. "He said he was at his place drinking alcohol when his wife returned from work at around 7.30 pm. They fought when he questioned her whether she was cheating on him," a police lieutenant said.
The wife then packed her bag to leave her husband's room and when he tried to stop her she verbally abused him. "He went mad and threw her on bed, and strangled her."
According to the forensic report, semen traces taken from the victim proved that she had sex with another man, prior to her death.
