Kuwait Week to boost bilateral economic ties


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The second Kuwait Week, which opened at Ritz Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre, on Monday lined up more than 50 exhibitors including private and public sector establishments. The event was inaugurated by Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and CEO of Emirates airline and Group, and Shaikh Mohammed Al Abdullah Al Sabah, Kuwait's Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs. The show, aimed at boosting trade cooperation and economic ties between the UAE and Kuwait, also drew the participation of over 20 UAE institutions. The exhibition was attended by Arab and foreign diplomats as well as prominent businessmen. Shaikh Ahmed and Shaikh Mohammed Al Abdullah toured the exhibition accompanied by the Consul General of Kuwait in Dubai and the Northern Emirates Tarek Khaled Al Hamed, and Ahmad Ismail Behbehani, President of Al Jabriya Exhibition, organisers of the event. Shaikh Ahmed stressed the importance of further strengthening the relations between the UAE and Kuwait. He said ties between the two countries are strongly felt in all sectors and hoped that more such exhibitions would take place. He said he expected to see a similar show by the UAE in Kuwait. On the support of other GCC countries for the UAE in its bid to host the World Expo 2020, Shaikh Ahmed said it was quite logical that Gulf countries invariably support each others on such important issues. The Kuwaiti minister in a statement expressed thanks to Shaikh Ahmed for opening the exhibition. He hoped that such events should be held regularly in the UAE and other Gulf and Arab countries. He pointed out that the Kuwaiti Week provided an opportunity to take advantage of the Dubai's successful experience in the field of investment and tourism. The Kuwaiti minister praised the exhibition and the large participation it had drawn both from Kuwait and the UAE. He said the exhibition sought to give a glimpse of Kuwait's progress and development. He also praised the efficient way the exhibition was organised by Al Jabriya Exhibition group. Minister Mohammed Al Abdullah said Gulf sovereign funds from Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and Dubai have made their strong presence felt across the globe, and are among the leading wealth funds in the world. He pointed out that both countries also have a strong private sector involved with the implementation of several major projects. Consul General Tareq Khaled said the second Kuwait Week is a vital platform for exchanging views on boosting bilateral economic relations and facilitating new corridors for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. He said the event would help strengthen the existing cooperation between the two countries and also contribute to the promotion of relations and cooperation between the two countries in all spheres of activities. President of Al Jabriyah Exhibition Group Behbehani said that the aim of the second Kuwait Week was to boost the two-way investment opportunities in all sectors and allow investors to discuss investment opportunities and exchange ideas and experiences within the framework of the excellent relations between the two nations. Behbehani said that the Kuwait Week would continue strength relations between Kuwait and the UAE. Both countries nurture strong political, cultural and social relations that are rooted in history.
