More rains expected, says Oman Met office

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat witnessed showers early on Wednesday bringing down the temperature and causing water-logging in some areas. Sohar, Sur, Barka and Musannah also received light rainfall.

The Met office said that more rain is expected in the coming days due to a low pressure build-up over the Indian Ocean, a common occurrence at this time of the year. ''Dark clouds gathered over many parts of the country including Sohar and Muscat accompanied by heavy, moderate to light rain since early Wednesday morning. Reports of water blockages were also reported from the interiors,'' a Met official said.

Heavy rain has been forecast for Buraimi, Musandam and Ras al Hadd while Muscat skies will remain overcast.

Flooding in Wadi Kabir caused damaged to some shops. ''Fifteen television sets and other appliances have been damaged beyond repair by rain water,'' said Shaji Thomas, manager of a repair shop in the area.

''This is the first time that water entered my shop,'' said the manager of another shop that repairs electrical appliances.
