Haya Water links 20% of Muscat properties to its sewage network


(MENAFN) Haya Water has linked over 20 percent of the properties in Muscat to its sewage network, replacing the city's outdated septic tank system and the need for fleets of yellow tanker trucks removing waste water from properties throughout the city, according to Times of Oman. The general manager (Project) of Haya Water said it is expected that over 70 percent of all properties are to be connected to the new sewage system by 2018 when the main urban areas of Muscat Governorate will come online and be able to take advantage of the city's water reuse project. He explained that the project is on schedule in delivering a world class water reuse system to the people of Muscat Governorate, and demonstrating Haya Water's commitment to contributing to Muscat becoming a city meeting international water and sanitation standards. Upcoming projects planned by Haya contain Madinat Sultan Qaboos rehabilitation, interim expansion projects, construction of a network for Bausher area and Ghala area, treated effluent (TE) at Al Bustan area, head office expansion and the opening of a wetland visitor's area.
