EU shares rose to a five year high

The E.U shares closed in green territories; climbing to a five year high, as HSBC Holdings Plc reported today unexpected cheerful increased profit and investors eyes are on this week’s interest-rate decision from the European Central Bank.

CAC 40 Index  

The French index climbed 26.48 points or 0.36% to finally close at 4288.59. The index started the session at 4286.29 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 4296.07 and its lowest level at 4276.81.

Best performing stocks within the index were the Lafarge SA share which inclined 4.88% to settle at €53.34, in second place came the European Aeronautic Defense share which closed higher by 2.77% at €52.01.

DAX Index  

German equities advanced today as the benchmark index DAX 30 closed the session higher by 29.40 points or 0.33% at 9037.23. The index started the session at 9035.91 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 9053.93 and its lowest level at 9019.31. 

Best performing stocks within the index were the K+S AG share which inclined 1.88% to settle at €20.98, in second place came the Volkswagen AG share which closed higher by 1.88% at €192.00.

FTSE 100 Index  

The British benchmark index ended the day higher to settle at 6763.62 with a gain of 28.88 points or 0.43%. The index started the session at 6734.74 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 6780.11 and its lowest level at 6734.56.

Best performing stocks within the index were the HSBC Holdings PLC share which inclined 2.28% to settle at £703.00, in second place came the Rio Tinto PLC share which closed higher by 3.31% at £3289.50.
