(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Gaza Strips only power station, which supplies the Palestinian enclave with up to two-thirds of its energy needs, is not operational on Friday due to the lack of industrial fuel , the matter which caused blackout across the Gaza Strip.
Deputy chairman of the energy authority of the deposed Palestinian Government Fathi Al-Sheikh Khalil said the power station was closed on Friday morning because of the lack of the necessary industrial fuel, noting that the majority of the Gaza population are living without electricity .
He appealled to all international parties to immediately make available the necessary fuel to reoperate the Gaza only power station.
The closure led to widespread blackouts for Gazas 1.7 million inhabitants. The local power company warned that households would receive only six hours of electricity a day until the problem was resolved.
