Oman wins three medals at GCC championship


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman won three bronze medals on the first day of the fourth GCC Junior Athletic Championship for Women in Manama, Bahrain on Monday. 

Hana al Qasimi finished third in the 110m hurdles in 17.61 seconds, behind winner Badia Kamar of Qatar and runner-up Salsabeel Sayyar of Kuwait.

Oman's other two bronze medals were won by Rowan al Hashmi in the long jump with a distance of 4.34m and Raghad al Zubaidi in the shot put with a throw of 12m.

Hamdan al Boshri, head of the sultanate's delegation for the event, said, ''The West Asian Championship in Jordan, which concluded last week, had helped the players prepare well for this event in Bahrain. The girls put in a good effort; we hope to increase our medal tally in future tournaments.''
