India's Bharti records 29 percent drop in Q2 profit

(MENAFN) India's top mobile phone company, Bharti Airtel, reported a 29 percent fall in quarterly profit year-on-year partly due to foreign exchange losses, which is its 15th straight drop, according to Times of Oman. The company said that its second financial quarter net profit fell to USD83 million as it struggles in a cut-throat market. The company's net profit was lower than analysts' expectations of USD107 million. The Indian firm, which has operations in both Africa and Asia, said mobile internet revenues soared 100 percent year-on-year to USD245 million.
