Royal Oman Police announces fourth Traffic Safety Expo


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The fourth Traffic Safety Expo will be held from November 11 to 14 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, with the slogan 'Traffic Safety is Everyone's Responsibility'. This was announced at a press conference organised at the ROP Traffic Safety Institute on Tuesday.

The expo, which is organised in collaboration with the ROP, Traffic Safety Institute and Oman Expo, will be held under the patronage of H E Eng Ali bin Masoud bin Ali al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry.

Dr Col Mohammed Awadh al Rawas, director general of traffic, ROP, said, ''The exhibition aims to promote a safe traffic culture among all groups of society. The latest developments and techniques in the field of traffic safety will be on display, and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the public and private sector companies who teamed up with the ROP to organise this event.''

Col Rawas said that it is the duty of everyone in the society to work towards preventing traffic accidents. ''The ROP's efforts to spread awareness and educate road users, aid and rescue the injured ensure seamless and safe traffic movement on the sultanate's roads.''

Over 25 government entities and over 50 private sector companies will take part in the exhibition. The ROP will be represented by the directorate generals of Traffic, Medical Services, Civil Aviation, Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, Public Relations, and the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance.

ROP booths will be set up at the expo to offer services to visitors who wish to renew their car registration or settle traffic fines. Col Rawas said, ''The growing success we've had with the expos is a strong indicator that over 60,000 visitors will turn up.'
