(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Kone's vision is to enable people to move through buildings smoothly, efficiently, and in a safe manner without waiting “ what Kone describes as People Flow.
To gain deeper insight into what this vision means in practice, Kone holds an annual People Flow Day around the world on October 30. More than 1,000 Kone employees in over 30 countries visit 100 sites to meet with customers and users and to observe a typical weekday in the buildings.
''Kone's People Flow Day is designed to bring us closer to users and our customers,'' tells Jani Palkola, Kone's marketing manager in the Middle East. Teams of Kone employees act as researchers talking to customers, interviewing the public, making on-site observations, and filling in questionnaires.
''By studying exactly how, where and why people move in buildings during a typical weekday, we gather information on both the user and the customer experience,'' Palkola said. The year 2013 marks the fourth time Kone organises the day globally. The Middle Eastern Kone teams meet customers and users in UAE, Oman and Qatar. People Flow Day activities are focused on visiting seven different types of buildings “ hotels, offices, medical facilities, transport hubs, residential buildings, retail premises, and special buildings.
''This year in the Middle East, we are meeting users and customers in Al Noor Hospital in Abu Dhabi, in Park Inn Hotel in Muscat and in Ezdan Mall in Doha,'' Palkola said. This year, the theme of the day is safety - a cornerstone for Kone. Millions of people use escalators, elevators, autowalks, and automatic building doors supplied or maintained by Kone, and the company's top priority is to keep the users safe.
''During the day, we have the possibility to contribute to creating safer environments by observing the way people use our equipment, by listening to our customers' wishes and concerns, and by setting an example of how to behave safely,'' Palkola said. ''The People Flow Day is a great opportunity for Kone employees to see what the company's vision means in action, and to strengthen our team feeling and safety culture even further,'' Palk
