Empower wins Emirates Energy Award for innovative solution to save water

(MENAFNEditorial) Empower, the leading district cooling provider in the Middle East, has won the bronze Emirates Energy Award for its innovative approach to saving water in its district cooling plant in Dubai Healthcare City. On behalf of Dubai's Supreme Council of Energy HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum in his capacity as Chairman of the Supreme Council of Energy presented the award to Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower in a glittering ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai. The awards ceremony was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The judging panel selected the project based on Empower's innovative use of Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) which offers many economic and environmental benefits. Using TSE reduces the use of potable water, a resource that is highly valuable in the Middle East. "Winning the Emirates Energy Award is a true honour for all of us at Empower and is a major milestone of our growth. We are all delighted to be recognised for our efforts to bring sustainable innovations to the industry. This sort of technology will help meet the demands of a rapidly-growing population in a sustainable way and will also help preserve our fragile environment," said bin Shafar. In June this year, Empower won the first Annual Innovation Award from the International District Energy Association (IDEA) for its effective use of TSE in combination with reverse osmosis (RO) process which optimises the efficiency of their large district chilled water plants and minimises the use of valuable potable water.
